I have camera problems!

Well more specifically lens problems.
You see, whenever I use my 18-135 nikon lens, it seems to overexpose (i think?) light... a lot... Can't tell if it's just a setting I need to change or if the lens truly is damaged (=/)
If anyone knows why it's doing this or has a solution, I'd really appreciate your help! =D
